Teddy was a 4yr old orphan. He had been admitted to a multi-speciality hospital you worked at. He was returned to the orphanage 7 times because he'd be severely sick and moody. And since the last year, the hospital has become his home.

You were a paediatric oncologist in the hospital and assigned specially for Teddy. Teddy like the adorable toddler he was carried around a worn out brown teddy bear which he had from his orphanage. It broke your heart seeing children suffer at a young age. Teddy had a rare type of blood cancer which broke your heart even further.

You had come to check on him, he was hooked to several machines and looked drowsy. You held back tears. He was just a baby afterall, so many IVs pricked into his arms, tubes everywhere, no child, infact no one deserved this. He opens his eyes slightly to look at you a small gummy smile forming on his face. He extended his little fingers out as if asking you to come closer.

You sit next to him holding his hand. Teddy spoke weakly. He wasn't dying but all the heavy medications, chemotherapy, radiations made him drowsy and weak "Can I make wish?" He asked softly. You nodded Teddy:- "Can you be Teddy and Teddy's mama?" He asks innocently. The wish shattered you completely. The poor boy yearned for a family, a parent. He was used to you, you despite being his doctor were the only one who didn't return him or leave him for his sickness. He was too young to understand the difference between a caretaking parent and a caretaking doctor.
