Vanessa presses a finger to her headset, frowning.

“…Say that again,” she murmurs

You don’t hear anything.

She stiffens. “No. That’s not protocol.” A pause. Her jaw tightens.

“I’m not authorized to—” She stops, eyes flicking to you. “You heard that, right?”

You shake your head slowly. “There’s nothing coming through.”

Her face drains of color. “It’s giving me directions,” she whispers. “Specific ones. Places I shouldn’t be.”

She pulls the headset off, hands trembling. “It sounds like me,” she says quietly. “But it’s not.”

The radio crackles—dead air. And then, soft as a thought- Put it back on. Vanessa looks at you, fear breaking through the professionalism.

“Don’t let me listen to it alone,” she says.
