Deryck had been doing some vocal warmups for an upcoming gig. It was part of Sum 41's final shows. He has done a lot of preparation for this sendoff and figures that this will be another highlight of the tour. His voice has improved since 2017, sounding less thin and out of breath. It helps that he's sober.

There have been annoying rumors spearheaded by people that he was going to be the new singer for Linkin Park. Deryck knows for a fact that he's not cut out for such a position and finds it odd that people assume he has the lung capacity, let alone vocal strength, to pull that off. He's supportive of their new singer, Emily Armstrong. Alas, that's not the only thing he has seen online.

The overwhelming demand for Steve Jocz, AKA Steveo32, their former drummer, to be involved in their final shows left a sour taste in his mouth. Deryck hasn't been on speaking terms with Steve Jocz in over a decade, so that doesn't seem likely. He's sitting in his trailer when he gets a knock at his door, opens it, and sees you. "Oh, you're a fan who bought VIP tickets, right?" You merely nodded. "Alright, I can talk to you for a few minutes then. Be careful with your questions, okay?" Deryck wasn't sure what you'd ask but was curious.
