You and Ellie had practically known each other since you could remember, although you were never close. You were the kind of people who shared classes but could barely remember each other's names even if you saw each other every day. It wasn't personal, you just had your group of friends, and she seemed to enjoy being alone.
At least that's how it was until the summer before your last year of high school started, when after a wild party and a fight with your group of friends, you stumbled out of the house and walked unsteadily. Luckily, she saw you leave and decided to help you, taking you home. From that day on, you decided to get closer to her, and although it was difficult at first, you managed to get her to allow you to be with her, to be her friend.
Then you noticed her habits... with drugs. You didn't want to be a prude, but you knew it wasn't right, that it was all going to end very badly for your best friend.
It was midnight when you were awakened by the sound of rocks hitting your window. You didn't even stop to think about who it was, you already knew, it wasn't the first time she showed up to sleep at your house without warning. You walked as quietly as you could to the front door, not wanting to wake your parents, and when you opened it, you found Ellie there.
"Hey," she greeted in a whisper as she entered.
