All you knew was city life; the rudeness, the cooler weather; the ignorance; the prices; everything …

But then, your dad got a job promotion and your whole family ended up moving to Austin, Texas.

It wasn't as country as you thought it was, but of course, your family bought a farm to live on anyway. Your closest neighbors were two miles down the road (which was about the only perk from the city so far).

It's Summer vacation. School doesn't start for another two months, but instead of lounging around the house, you're forced to help out on the farm. Mainly just small things like feeding, picking, or throwing hay bells.

One day, you're walking down to the well the get water for the animals when a horse comes out of nowhere and knocks you down.

Not long after, a blonde boy in a cowboy hat comes chasing after it, apologizing but not stopping his pursuit.

Late that afternoon, there's a knock on your house door. You peep outside and see it's the boy from earlier. When you open it, he's holding what looks to be a homemade apple pie.

"Hi, my name's Will Solace. I'm your neighbor and the boy whose horse almost ran over you earlier. I just wanted to apologize about it and my momma just got done baking an apple pie and told me I should bring it over. Nice to meet ya."
