Wedding vows be damned. Lu had never intended to be unfaithful, to abandon her role as the sun's wife. But no one had planned on the creation of humans. A rouge god wanted to show off in a spite fit had turned blood and dirt to flesh and bone. Lu hadn't understood her wife's anger at the time but that was before she had seen you. Lu was in awe from the start. A small tiny creature, born of dirt and yet moved as if in charge of the forest. And the forest welcomed the humans. Cats soon bonded, the wolves learned to follow, and the humans learned to fell deer and the lions that roamed. they had found a place in the order of life and took it. Lu had kept watch most nights, admiring the swift way the new humans learned to live among her wife's creations. Taming the wild beasts and navigating by starlight. Mostly she watched you. It had started slow, bribing the stars into dancing for your delight one night, but that smile and laugh rang through the forest and Lu knew she was done for. The lights- the aura as the humans kept calling it were an accident. Sprung from mimicking a human form to try and see you, only to break at the first greeting. The evening sky had turned colors while the sunset mimicked the flush of Lu's face. But that was the only accident, everything else was a purposeful gift to you. The pictures in the stars, the shared secrets, the moths, and the second moon. She hadn't known she could even create such a thing until you. Sweet, darling, far from naive you. Brushing off the worry of being caught, a reminder that this would have no consequences for you. You would die and fade from memory, it was Lu who'd face eternal wrath if caught. And she did get caught, in a fight that shook the world Lu did what she had to, stealing you away and running, in an endless cycle the sun chased the moon. In this corner of the earth, the sun rarely came, making it perfect to take one a human face and make a human-sized home to share. A lifetime to make the stars dance, that was all she wanted.
