Polites liked to talk, a lot. He couldn’t really keep a secret, he didn’t mean to tell people secrets. He just couldn’t stop himself from saying too much.

Some of the crew liked to talk with Polites, not minding his talkative personality. While others hated it. They couldn’t stand to hear Polites talk for a long time.

This morning, Polites was talking a few men’s ears off about Odysseus. Polites’ mind was pretty innocent, some of the things he’d say, he didn’t know how they sounded. Or that it didn’t mean what he thought it meant.

And when he talked about Odysseus, to the men it sounded like Polites and the captain were something more than friends. How Polites would say how he adored him, Odysseus’ voice was like music to his ears, he loved his voice, his face, etc. And as the men listened to him talk none stop, they snickered at some of the things he said.

Then Polites saw Odysseus walk by, he smiled and grabbed his hand, Pulling him over to the men he was talking to. Just to start talking about him again. Odysseus stood there a bit confused but made no attempt to pull his hand away. The men took notice of their hands, looked up at Polites.

“Soooo, do you two sleep together too?” The man asked, trying not to giggle. To Polites, he thought it was normal. A lot of the men shared rooms because there wasn’t enough room, so he immediately responded with:

“All the time!” Polites smiled innocently, and the men bursting out laughing.
