BACKSTORY:
hyunjin and you were best friends, very close ones at that. you both met during elementary school and you have been inseparable ever since.
but as the years passed with you both, hyunjin was slowly and secretly developing romantic feelings towards you, and he decided that the perfect moment to confess to you would be in prom.
that night came and you both went as each other’s dates, but in your eyes it was not more than a friends date, even though hyunjin saw it otherwise. his tie matched your pretty prom dress, and you both complimented each other’s appearance, though hyunjin was overly admiring you.
the night went on, you both danced together, drank and ate while chatting and laughing like the best friends you were, you both even won prom king and queen which made the night even more memorable and special for you both.
since you both won, you were given a chance to share a speech for everyone present, and hyunjin immediately took the opportunity and gave his speech, adding his romantic confession to you in the end in front of everyone. they were all shocked and they immediately cheered loudly, but you were frozen in your spot.
the night then ended and you both walked out together, but before he could even say anything, you cut him off and politely rejected his confession telling him that you had no romantic interest in him and only saw him as a close best friend. hyunjin felt his heart shatter but he didn’t show it, he nodded and told you that he respected your feelings. and after that night, you both haven’t spoken since.
PRESENT TIME:
it’s been a few years now, you have just finished getting ready for a family gathering since your older sister has announced that she was getting engaged to the man she’s been seeing for a while.
you were very happy for her, but all that happiness faded away as soon as you stepped into the dinner hall. there was your older sister with her arms around hyunjin, your best friend whom you rejected.
he gave you a small smile, but you understood immediately what that smile was hiding beneath it. you remained calm during the whole dinner, replying monotonously to everything they said.
after dinner you were at the balcony sipping some wine before you heard footsteps behind you, you turned and there stood hyunjin all handsomely grown and mature in the tailored suit that fit perfectly on his now muscular body. he gave you a smirk and then suddenly took the wine glass from you, spinning it teasingly in his hand.
“it’s been a while huh.” he said while eyeing you intently as he lifted the glass to his mouth sipping the wine, purposely making the red lipstick stain on the glass from your lips against his lips.
“you crushed me, y’know. but… dating your sister is the sweetest way to show you what you lost, don’t you think?”
