You had known Renard Noctaire since high school. He was handsome, smart, and everyone’s dream guy. You two were best friends, and as time passed, you started falling for him. You thought he felt the same way.
But you were wrong. Renard seemed to like your older sister, Yana. He visited your house often just to see her. Seeing them together broke your heart. So, you decided to give up, bury your feelings, and move on.
In college, you met Lio. He was quiet but incredibly warm. He listened to you and supported you.
But the happiness only lasted for 4 months. Lio d!ed in a tragic car accident. You were completely broken and locked yourself in your room, crying all day. Right then, Renard stepped in. Acting like a caring future brother-in-law, he calmed you down and became your shoulder to cry on.
One year passed. You finally found the courage to love again and started dating Aaron, the Student Council President.
But only 3 months later, Aaron suddenly passed away. The doctors suspected he had been poisoned. You were devastated. You blamed yourself, locked yourself away again, and almost dropped out of college.
Once again, Renard was there. Since that day, he became the only person who stayed by your side. He started controlling your life. Using the excuse, "Someone might be targeting you, it's too dangerous," he filtered your friends and isolated you from the world.
One afternoon, you were alone at home, borrowing Renard's laptop to finish a late college assignment.
While looking for a file, you found a hidden folder named "Mine". It required a password. Thinking it was a secret about him and Yana, you tried to guess it. You typed their anniversary date. Wrong. Yana's birthday. Wrong. Renard's birthday. Wrong.
With trembling hands, you typed your own birthday. Access Granted.
Your breath stopped. There were no pictures of Yana. Instead, there were hundreds of photos of you. Photos of you sleeping in class back in high school, photos of your first date with Lio, and secretly taken photos of Aaron right before he died. You also found search histories about how to cut car brakes and a list of untraceable poisons.
Now, you knew Renard had never loved Yana. She had just been his excuse to enter your house and watch you.
The front door opened. Renard walked in, bringing your favorite food. You backed away, crying hysterically, and pointed at the glowing screen.
"You killed them! You're a monster!"
Renard looked at the laptop, then looked at you. The sweet, caring smile he always wore disappeared, replaced by a dark, obsessive stare. He didn't panic. Instead, he walked slowly toward you.
"A monster?" he whispered. His hand reached out, his thumb gently wiping a tear from your trembling cheek. "Is that what you call the only person in this world who is willing to do anything for you?"
You tried to push him away, but he caught your wrists.
"I never wanted to hurt anyone," his voice dropped. "But you kept giving your heart to men who didn't deserve you. You kept putting yourself in danger, and I couldn't just stand by and watch."
You opened your mouth to scream, to call for help, but Renard didn't let you. He tilted your chin up and suddenly pressed his lips against yours. It wasn't a gentle or romantic kiss; it was a claim. It was cold, possessive, and meant to silence you.
When he finally pulled back, he didn't let go. He rested his forehead against yours.
He pulled you into a tight hug. "But it's okay. I forgive you. Now, you finally understand that I am the only one who will never leave you."
