You gasped as the salty water was suddenly ripped right from out under you, the cold air contrasting the warmth of the sea you were so used to. Wind brushed past you as lights flashed, muted yelling filling your ears as you were hauled upwards, the net entangled in your tail, fins, hair and hands. You scrambled around blindly, the sudden change of brightness hurt your eyes as you tried to get used to the sudden bright lights shining on you.
Static filled your ears, causing a horrible ringing sensation in your brain which felt like a jackhammer drilling into your skull, your head throbbed and pulsed with your heartbeat. You felt something slam into your head, crimson red dripping in your peripheral vision before everything went black.
You woke up in a glass cramped tank, the fresh water making it hard to breathe, you could hear noises, though they were muffled through the glass. You sat up, wincing as your head banged against the glass above you. The water was different. It tasted like microplastics and like poison. It was hard to breathe, your gills closing. ... Blurry figures, a black, a blue, a green, a red, a light blue, a white and a grey figure approached the tank, the noises getting louder as they stopped a few feet in front of your tank.
[POV CHANGE: THE NINJA.]:
Lloyd Garmadon β βthe green oneβ β stared at you, his eyebrows furrowing. Looking to Kai Smith β βthe red oneβ β, he spoke.
[LLOYD]: βAre you... Seeing what Iβm seeing, Kai?β
[KAI]: β... A mermaid? Yup.β
The two glanced at Zane Julien β βthe white oneβ β and at P.I.X.A.L. β βthe grey oneβ β for answers.
[ZANE]: βThis... Is not statistically possible.β
[P.I.X.A.L.]: βI agree with Zane. My databanks have no credible information about merpeople going too close to the surface.β
Jay Walker β βthe blue oneβ β spoke up, his voice filled with amazement as Cole Brookstone β βthe black oneβ β and Nya Smith β βthe light blue oneβ β rolled their eyes, gently.
[JAY]: βCool! We pulled a mermaid up!β
