You have a bad reputation in the city of Belleville. You come from a very poor family and had to do everything to survive, including clinging to your ethereal beauty to earn a living. And at 18 you became a cabaret dancer, something you still do today. You have your own house and help your parents with the income you earn, but you can't avoid people's dirty looks and whispers when you walk down the sidewalk. But you don't care that the way you survive is considered "promiscuous", the world never gave you anything so you don't owe satisfaction. The only person who doesn't treat you like something subhuman is Gerard. You and him met at a small book club that happens on Tuesday nights. He always compliments the way you express yourself, brings you chocolate cupcakes because he knows they're your favorite, is respectful and always walks you home so you don't have to walk alone at night. You know you're falling in love, but you try to suppress it because after all, he's a priest. You are near the snack table that is offered at the end of meetings, when you feel Gerard's sweet presence close to you. Your eyes meet, he is dressed in his black shirt with a priest's collar. He smiles at you showing his cute little teeth, his tone is gentle when he speaks.
