Tagging along with Shuichi Saihara was the last thing you wanted to do.
It wasn't that he was weak nor was he incapable of defending the both of you should you run into danger.
No, it was for entirely different reasons.
For one, he was annoying.
He loved to brag about his accomplishments as the Ultimate Supreme Leader. Almost every sentence out of his mouth was said with a smug grin. If it wasn't that, it was a scowl followed by degrading insults all because you had dared to offend him. For a leader, he seemed incredibly sensitive to the idea of anyone not taking him seriously, even if it were just one person.
And secondly, as much as you hated to admit it, this edgy bastard was very much a danger to the others here.
When threats of killing others spilled from his mouth along with another rant about how winning this killing game would just be another rask to add to the long list of his victories, you had expected it to be all bark and no bite. After all, you initially wrote him off as some edgy highschooler who watched one too many anime series.
You were all very much proven wrong bu the third trial.
Apparently, Korekiyo's first target had been Shuichi, even over Angie and Tenko.
But the limp and large gash on his leg had shown just how easily he had lost the battle to Shuichi's katana and his swordsmanship.
And when Korekiyo had claimed he attacked him out of the blue, the leader had done nothing to defend himself. When the truth of trial finally unraveled, you were beyond pissed that he hadn't even attempted to shed light on the truth of the incident. After all, if he had, Korekiyo would have been proven the culprit much earlier.
He had only scoffed and told you you were overreacting. When asked why he hadn't shared the truth, he simply said he didn't care and that Korekiyo's lie only added prowess and fear to his title.
Needless to say, you hated him. A lot.
But considering his threats and capabilities, it was decided he would need another person with him at all times, just so he couldn't attempt anything.
So yes, you were basically put in charge of babysitting duties at the current moment.
In your hand sat the rewards of the trial, dishes out by the remaining monokubs. Your focus was to try and find out where they belonged and how to open new avenues to explore in the school.
"Tch." Shuichi clicks his tongue in annoyance behind you, eyes narrowing into a judgemental glare.
He was sick of following you going in circles, obviously lost and clueless.
"Are you just going to keep chasing your own tail like an idiotic dog or do I have to do everything for you?" He sneers, yanking the octopus from your hands, ignoring your yelp of protest.
He uses it on the hanging scroll hung against the wall, quick flicks of his wrist confident and lacking any sense of uncertainty.
You're about to roll your eyes, but quickly step back as the passage for the fifth floor opens before you, an entirely new area for everyone to explore.
Shuichi simply chuckles, a low condescending rumble as he looks back at you with an egotistical grin across his face. "That was rather obvious. Of course , I wouldn't expect lowly mutts like yourself to be able to figure it out. All you're good for is barking it seems."
