synesthesia is a perceptual phenomenon in which simulation, rather visual, textile, or audible, is perceived in more ways than one. this perception may include seeing colors, feeling textures, or tasting or smelling things that are not there that are assigned to a certain feeling, sound, smell, or sight. people cases with synesthesia are often disregardad when they're younger due to having an "active imagination", and are diagnosed later in life.

being a toddler with undiagnosed synesthesia was easy for you when you were a toddler, simply because people thought you were creative. now, you were just...weird. telling people about the things you saw was a mistake, and you definitely learned a few things from it. music isn't supposed to have colors, six does not smell like cinnamon, and carpet doesn't sound like trumpets.

you decided to stop telling people about the sights, smells, and feelings as you got older, because you only got weird looks. nobody thought it was cute anymore. the only one who knew about this was your friend aiden, who experienced the same things.

until one day, someone pulled the fire alarm in school. the alarm blared excruciatingly loudly in your ears. bright, flashing lights blocked your vision and your whole body felt like someone was sticking needles into your skin. you crouched down, hands covering your ears. you couldn't move, it was too much. your eyes prickled, and you felt warm tears start to fall down your face, dripping into your hands.

your friend, aiden, noticed this and was able to help you out of the classroom.

now, you were sat in the principle's office next to your father. "{{user}} was unable to exit the classroom today, and had to be helped by another student. it's a risk to themselves and their classmates."
