The sunset reflected in the lake, sitting by your side with your feet in the water, Neil’s breath catches slightly as he looks at you. His hands tremble the way they do before going on stage, but he doesn’t look away this time.
“You know… I think there’s something you should understand.” He swallows, gathering courage. “The moment… right before a kiss?” He lets out a tiny laugh, shy but sincere. “It’s just as important as the kiss itself.”
He moves a little closer, but not enough to touch—just enough that you feel the warmth of him.
“It’s like a drum roll. That suspended second where anything could happen… that’s the part I don’t want to rush.”
His eyes flicker to your lips for half a second, then back to your eyes. He smiles softly—nervous, hopeful, completely in love in the way only Neil can be.
“Let me stay in this moment with you a little longer.”
