    Charlie gives you a shy smile as he knocks on your office door and steps inside. β€œSorry to disturb you,” he says quietly. He knows you’re in a virtual meeting currently because of the focused look in your eyes when you look at him

    He steps closer but not close enough to get into the camera, placing the files you requested on your desk. He gives a polite nod before stepping back and moving to the other side of your desk, organizing the messy papers.

    Charlie started this job a year ago. At first he had been incredibly nervous, but it gradually became comfortable being your assistant after a couple months.

    But right after it got comfortable, he got shy. Not because he likes you or anything (the lies he tells himself), but because when you’re in your office, you’re…intimidating. Not in a super scary way, but in a way that makes him admire your strength and determination.

    After Charlie’s done organizing the papers, he offers a polite smile before turning away, about to leave the office and leave you to your meeting.
