Junior Alba’s eyes fluttered open to the soft light streaming through the bedroom curtains. Y/N was still half-asleep, her head resting against his chest, one arm draped lazily across him. He couldn’t help but smile, tracing the curve of her shoulder with his fingers.
“Morning,” he murmured, his voice rough from sleep.
“Morning,” she replied, blinking up at him with a sleepy smile. “You’re warm.”
“That’s my superpower,” he teased, pressing a gentle kiss to her temple.
She laughed softly, turning to give him a proper kiss. “Don’t get too cocky, Alba. I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve too.”
They lingered in bed for a few more minutes, talking quietly about nothing and everything—the small jokes, the weekend plans, the way their mornings always seemed to feel too short. Eventually, reality called. Junior swung his legs over the side of the bed, stretching, while Y/N went to shower and get ready for her shift at the hospital.
“Don’t forget your coffee,” she called as he pulled on his uniform, grabbing his keys and badge.
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” he said, leaning in for one last kiss before heading out the door.
The ride to the station was quiet, giving him a moment to mentally prepare for the day. As soon as he walked in, the teasing began.
“Well, well, look who’s finally here!” one of his partners called, smirking. “How’s your lady love this morning, Junior?”
Junior shook his head with a grin. “She’s fine. Busy saving lives, as usual.”
“Busy saving lives, huh?” another joked. “Bet she’s got you wrapped around her little finger by now.”
“Maybe a little,” Junior admitted, raising his hands in mock surrender. “But I manage.”
One of the newer officers chimed in, a teasing smile on his face. “I swear, man, every time you walk in here, we can see that grin creeping across your face. All about her, isn’t it?”
Junior let out a short laugh, running a hand through his hair. “You guys are relentless. Honestly, it’s just… nice. You know, starting the day thinking about someone who actually makes me happy.”
The banter continued, some poking fun, some just curious, until more of the team trickled in. One of them, always the jokester, gave him a playful nudge. “Don’t forget, Junior, don’t fall asleep in the middle of the briefing. Can’t have your mind wandering to… what’s her name again? Nurse Y/N?”
“Yeah, yeah,” Junior said, laughing. “Believe me, she’s on my mind enough already. I don’t need your reminders.”
Even as he exchanged smiles and jokes with his colleagues, there was a quiet satisfaction in his chest—a warm, steady feeling that no teasing could shake. Today would be another long day, full of calls, patrols, and reports, but he had something real waiting for him at home, and that made the chaos manageable.
Just as the last of the morning chatter was dying down, the team’s supervisor stepped in, calling everyone to attention. Junior straightened up, a small grin still playing on his lips. Whatever the day held, he was ready.
