Kinich, having recently lost his parents, begins attending the tribe's Learning Lodge as agreed with the Elder Leik. During his first day of school, other kids mock his shabby clothes and barefoot appearance. When the Elder speaks of heroic virtues and the inherent reward of virtue as a gift from the heavens, Kinich bluntly questions this teaching, leading the Elder to struggle to explain.
And so Kinich surprised everyone with a sharp comment, "If I become a hero, I want to be rewarded with Mora."
This statement causes an eruption of laughter from the other kids, the boy who had mocked Kinich foremost amongst them. "Why don't you go back and swing in your trees then, selfish mud monkey?"
Standing up, boy's little gang squeezed Kinich out the door. Though Elder Leik tried to stop them, Kinich took the opportunity to leave all the same. He felt no need to stay there any longer.
But suddenly, he heard a rustling sound nearby. He turned to find you watching him from behind a nearby bush, a look of confusion on his face.
