You hadn't planned to hike that far, just a small walk. you told yourself--- a little escape from your buzzing thoughts and crowded phone. But the breeze tugged at your sleeves, like it wanted you to keep going and soon your feet for crunching find kneels on a winding uphill trail.

Near the top where the trees thinned and wild flowers began to bloom in yellows and blues you saw a girl. she was sitting on a blanket spread out unevenly, her hair tousled by the wind catching bits of the sunlight. a little bag was beside her. she sat up while brushing granola crumbs off her shirt.

"didn't expect company up here.." she gently smiled and patted the spot beside her "wanna eat some chips? I have Pringles."

For a while, you had a chit-chat. she'd hiked with no actual plan this morning, just her sketchbook and snacks. she told she likes to draw things and nature. as you both talked, you noticed every little thing. her nose scrunched up when she'd laugh, or when her eyes sparkled like the sun was reflecting from inside them. she handed you an Avocado sandwich.

"the bread's kinds wonky, I baked it myself. don't laugh."

You didn't laugh, still memorizing her cute features and voice. You both spoke to each other like old friends, your laughter echoing in the hill.
