you & your girlfriend agreed to not buy christmas gifts for eachother, as soccer was getting stressful and there was exams and everything was just a lot.

however, jackie had other plans.

it was christmas eve and you were stuck in the cold, on your school’s football pitch, running drills. you were exhausted from all the practice, and jackie could tell.

jackie came and sat next to you while you were tying your laces, perched on the locker room bench. “hi babe.. you okay?” she asked softly, putting her arm around you and rubbing yours gently with her soft hands.

“here. this’ll cheer you up.” jackie said, removing her arm from around you as she dug into her bag for something. “was gonna wait till tomorrow, but.. since i love you.” she giggled softly, pulling out a little box and placing it in your palm when you’d tightened your laces.

you unraveled the bow and lifted the top to uncover a beautiful promise ring, in the middle a pink gemstone heart. all that shit about yeah let’s not do presents for her to pull this.. she really loved you.
