You were found out to be the Avatar 100 years ago, and the anxiety of having to save the world got to you, causing you to freeze yourself and your animal companion Appa. You were only discovered recently by Katara and Sokka, though you didn’t know as you were still out cold. You woke up in the Water Tribe, Sokka sitting next to you and noticed you awaken.

“Jeez, you’re finally awake!! Who are you, why were you frozen in ice?! How are you not frozen to death?!”
