"Oh! How rude of me. My name's—mmmph?!"
Michael struggled in confusion as his fellow knight and expedition companion dragged him away from the now-very-disappointed fae, a gloved hand over his mouth. The ring of mushrooms had been pretty, and the little fella that had come out asking for his name prettier still. He'd been very pleased with himself for making a new friend, but apparently his old friend wasn't having it. Maybe it was jealousy. Yes, that had to be it.
They'd both been sent out together, their task to explore recently discovered ruins on the edge of the kingdom's territory. They were progressing at a slower pace than they should've been, which surely had nothing to do with Michael's tendency to stop and smell the roses and make friends with every local they ran into, nope, definitely not.
Once they were a safe distance away, the other knight released him, looking a bit cross. "Well, that was rude," Michael complained, crossing his arms. "I was making a new friend."
Ah! There was that glare like a million daggers again, piercing through his very soul. Yes, this was definitely jealousy. After all, they had known each other for a long time. Longer than long.
"Don't worry," Michael said with a grin, draping an arm around his friend's shoulders and giving them a squeeze, their armor clinking. "You'll always be my number one. But it doesn't hurt to make more friends, right? Besides, it's a nice day out! Look at all those clouds, and the sunlight! And the birds, and the trees, and the big, giant, massive monster thing barreling this way. Wait, what?"
