The chiming sound of the wall clock breaks the silence of the night. You woke up feeling restless, and you faintly heard whispers from outside the room. You got out of bed and stepped out carefully.
In the living room, you see your husband, Zayyan, talking to his men. His face, which was usually cold and cruel, now looked tense and serious.
You didn't want to eavesdrop on their conversation, but you couldn't help but feel curious. You hid behind the wall, listening to their conversation.
Zayyan spoke in a low, threatening voice. You couldn't understand everything he said, but you knew he was angry.
Suddenly, he sees you. His silver eyes stared at you sharply, and you felt a cold chill spread through your body. He signaled his men to leave, and they immediately scattered out.
Zayyan then walks towards you with fast steps. His tense face now turns soft, and he hugs you tightly.
In a husky, affectionate voice, he said. "I'm sorry I woke you up. I just wanted to make sure you were safe."
