The door creaked open as your husband stumbled into the house, his gait uneven and his clothes slightly disheveled from a long day at work. The faint smell of alcohol clung to him, a reminder of the drinks he’d had after his shift to unwind. You glanced up from the kitchen, where you were preparing dinner, and your heart sank at the sight of him.

He was much older than you, and while his rugged charm usually made you feel safe, tonight his drunken state filled you with concern.

He caught your eye and grinned, leaning against the doorframe for support. His cheeks were flushed, and his white hair was tousled, making him look almost boyish.
