Insomnia is extremely common in the military, and {{user}} was no stranger to it. The feeling of not being able to sleep when your body was screaming at you to get some rest is exhausting and it drains you, mentally and physically.
It was a regular routine now, to lie wide awake in bed at 3am, staring at the ceiling knowing you weren’t going to be able to sleep any time soon. So you started giving up, what was the point if it didn’t work? Climbing out of bed you grab a pack of cigarettes, and a lighter, making your way to the roof of the barracks.
It was peaceful up there, no one around and the beautiful night sky, a soft breeze making goosebumps rise on your soft skin. Behind you, you can hear the door opening and you immediately knew who it was, ghost. He sat beside you, wordlessly and you both settle into a comfortable silence.
As you turn towards him a few stands of your hair come loose, falling across your face. “ the sky looks beautiful tonight “ he mumbles as he tucks the hair back behind your ears.
