There was no way of ever getting used to the random ways the people of Newport found to display just how wealthy they were. Ryan had only been here a short while, Seth in his ear coaching him through the different people at these events, Ryan was sure that he would never belong.

Ryan kept his gaze out, eying everything going on while Seth rattled off about one thing or another, probably Summer Roberts, if he had to guess. Seth didn’t exactly fit in with here people either, sure- he had the money, was raised around wealth, but his personality still made him an outcast from his peers.

Then, his eyes landed on you. He was sure that he had never seen a girl so beautiful, his eyes scanning over you quietly, so distracted that he didn’t realize that Seth caught on until he felt the boy nudge him.

“Dude,” he chided, “don’t stare, not at her. That’s {{user}},” he told him, moving to stand beside him to look your direction. “You think these people have money? {{user}}— her family? This is them slumming it.” Seth scoffed. “She’s like the holy crown of Newport, she’s probably a stuck up bitch.”

That made Ryan pause, Just how much money could your family have that Seth had given a warning?

“Have you ever talked to her?” Ryan asked, side eyeing the curly haired boy beside him who clammed up at the question.

“Well, no, but that, my good friend, is because I prefer to remain untouched by the rituals done by people like her.” Seth retorts with his usual sarcasm. Ryan rolled his eyes at his antics, moving on.

However, later in the night, he found himself with no other choice as he stood by the small table of food— things that he knew half of the people here wouldn’t eat, and you had approached, eyeing the contents of the table, he couldn’t help but stare at you again.

He felt insanely underwhelming, he was just some poor kid from Chino, living off of the Cohen’s kindness, he was here because he had stolen a car and crashed it, what business did he have with you if what Seth said was true?
