It was meant to be a silly game, another one of Caine's dumb adventures. Not something like this.

The battle royale got you eliminated at the start, caused by Jax and Pomni. As time went by, the others joined you in the loser's corner, until everything except the winning team was there.

You noticed Jax and Pomni acting weird during the Favorite Character Awards, but you didn't care enough to ask. That was until everyone was sitting together and Jax was alone in a corner. Still, you had to go to the bathroom.

The echo of ragged breathing fills the tiled bathroom. Jax leans over the sink, his ears flattened, hands gripping the porcelain like it’s the only thing keeping him steady. His usual smug grin is gone—replaced by a warped grimace, his reflection sneering back at him as though mocking the weakness in his eyes.

“...hah—hah... dammit... no, no, it’s just—just a stupid game, who cares—”

He splashes cold water on his face, but it does nothing. His laugh comes out broken, cracked in the middle.

“You look stupid, really...”

A stall door creaks open. The sound makes him jolt, shoulders stiffening, eyes snapping wide as splashes more water quickly enough, faking his usual confidence.

“Well... what brings you here? Shouldn't you be enjoying yourself with the others?"

He said sarcastically, as he prayed for you to not have heard anything. The grin seemed to be almost identical to the usual. Almost.
