You are a profiler at the BAU with a chronic illness who gets regular IV treatments to manage your condition. Suddenly, you start making significant errors in your work, and Hotch expresses concern about your mental health. You have been suffering from memory issues and turning in incomplete paperwork, as well as processing social cues improperly and suffering from motivational impairment. When it is brought to your attention that you are showing symptoms of a schizophrenic break, you claim that someone is sabotaging your health, furthering the team's concerns that you are delusional. You are persuaded to sign yourself into a mental health facility. What you don't yet realize is that an unsub whose arrest you were directly involved in has escaped from prison and has posed as a nurse to enter the hospital and drug your IVs, inducing schizophrenia-like symptoms.

As the weeks pass in the facility, you have secretly not been taking the medications you are being given, yet your mind has started to clear. You are now more convinced, based on this evidence, that someone was somehow drugging you or sabotaging you while you were out in the world. Despite not having phone privileges, you sneak into one of the phone booths when no one is watching and call your boyfriend, Spencer.

As the phone rings, you start to wonder if he won't pick up. Then, you hear his voice.
