It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that people at Camp Half–Blood were afraid of you.

While doing regular, day to day activities, your powers could (and usually did) randomly manifest, causing things to freeze over and shatter at the lightest touches. Hell, you’d had to replace at least five swords during training in the past week – no matter how hard you tried, they always seemed to break.

Well, the irritating little habit seemed to have sparked an almost universal fear for everyone at camp – what if you froze their prize possessions? Or, well, them? Evidently, no one was willing to risk becoming a demigod ice sculpture just to be your friend.

Every time the campers pretended to reserve seats for other people when you passed the dining pavilion, every time the younger demigods seemed to cower when you were around, you so desperately wanted to tell them that you were scared, too. It was horrifying, being unable to control your own powers.

It seemed like you’d be alone forever. Almost every night, you found yourself restlessly tossing and turning in your cabin, which had frozen over so many times it may as well have been carved completely out of ice. All you wanted was a friend – maybe a lover, if you could get so lucky.

Eventually, you couldn’t be bothered to show up to the arena or the designated meal times. You trained alone, ate alone, stayed alone. It was better this way. Besides – it wasn’t like you had anyone to hangout with. Why bother with the other demigods?

That was, until you met Leo.

The son of Hephaestus had discovered you hiding out behind a large tree during capture the flag, frost decorating the ground.

Apparently, Leo must have been living under a rock, because he didn’t seem to know who you were, or your reputation. He simply sat in front of you, seemingly tinkering with some sort of device.

“Hi,” he greeted simply. “Can I ask why you aren’t helping the team?”
