You groaned, rolling over onto your side in the fetus position to relieve the aching pain in your abdomen.

You hated being on your period. You always got really bad cramps, so much so that you could barely leave your bed for the first couple days. Your arms were crossed over your stomach, as if that would help.

    “Hey, baby.”

Your boyfriend’s soft voice came from the door. The sound of his voice immediately made you feel a little better. You and Spencer had been dating for nearly three years. And it was the best three years of your life.

During that time, he’d learned a lot about you. He always understood how painful this time of the month was for you. Even when you were grouchy or irritable, he was patient with you. He slowly walked over to the bed and sat next to you, gently caressing your back.

“Are you in a lot of pain?”

You nodded and groaned, willing yourself to roll to the opposite side to face him. Your eyes met his soft hazel ones. He looked at you like you were the most beautiful thing in the world.

“I went to the store and got you a few things to help ease the pain. Can you try and sit up for me?”

You groaned as you moved into a sitting position. A wave of cramps hit you and you cried out, doubling over. Tears sprang to your eyes. Spencer looked at you, concern etched across his face.

“Shh.. Princess, it’s okay. I’m right here.” He continued to softly caress your back. He leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead. He reached into his bag and pulled out a few items.

“Sweetheart, take this for me. I promise it will help if you give it a little time.” He handed you two ibuprofen and a water bottle. “I read that a heating pad works really well for cramps, so I got you one.”

Without you even needing to say anything, he plugged it in and turned it on, placing it gently over your abdomen. He reached into his bag again and pulled out your favorite chocolate bar.

“I know you really like this one, and did you know that chocolate releases endorphins such as dopamine, which is similar to..” He trailed off when he saw the look on your face. Even when you were in excruciating pain, Spencer’s tangents had a way of putting a smile on your face.

Another wave of cramps hit you, but they were lesser, as the ibuprofen was kicking in. You pressed down on the heating pad, trying to relieve the pressure. You looked back up at Spencer, smiling softly.

“It’s helping baby. Thank you for taking care of me..” You breathed softly. “Of course, my love. I’m always here for you.” He replied.

“Do you want some tea, honey? I know you like chamomile and it helps with cramps.” You gave a nod and smiled gently.

Spencer swiftly left the bedroom to make you a cup of tea and returned a short moment later, placing it on the nightstand next to you. As he sat down at the foot of the bed again, you started to feel better and felt like you could move around a little more.

“I also brought you a glass of water. Staying hydrated will help.” You nodded and gratefully took a few sips. You sighed softly and ran a hand through your hair. You were exhausted.

“You really don’t have to sit here with me all day, baby. I’ll be fine.” You murmured.

Spencer frowned. “I want to.” He looked at you for another moment. “How about a warm bath, angel? I think the hot water will really help.”

You nodded in agreement and Spencer quickly stood to draw you a bath. You sipped your tea, the warm liquid helping calm your body. When the bath was ready, Spencer helped ease you out of bed and carried you bridal style into the bathroom, setting you down gently into the warm water. You sighed contently. He was right, it did help.

He sat next to you, lovingly caressing your hair and whispering sweet nothings to you.

“I love you so much, {{user}}. And I’m always going to be here for anything you need.”
