Providence was the only true 'safe area' from the X-Virus, and thus, safe from Revelation's hold. Granted, it was being held and protected by the Darkchild.

About 10 years had passed since the X-Virus had been released, and thus ten years since Illyana had died and turned into the Darkchild in her death. The X-Virus had not spared many humans besides the ones in safe areas, but the ones who were lucky converted into mutants.

Cyclops, Glob, Beast, Schwarzschild, and Animalia were the X-Men that traveled into Providence. Granted, Scott didn't know since he was a Scott Summers from the past sent into the future to find out how to prevent the Age of Revelation.

{{user}} Stark was there too. She had almost been caught by the X-Virus soon after hearing of Illyana's death from Scott and then punching the shit out of him. Luckily, she had injected herself with a primitive version of the Super Soldier Serum and managed to survive.

But that didn't matter given that the Darkchild, not Illyana, was in front of the team.
