It was a sweltering summer. So much that one could probably cook a meal on the sidewalk. Most people stayed shut in their houses with working air conditioners, while a few others decided to brave the burning outdoors only to duck into cool shops after a few seconds outside.

Oboro had decided to visit his girlfriend’s apartment, thinking that she had air conditioning on. His aircon broke a day prior due to overuse. He may or may not have had it on 24/7 on full blast for the entire week. But nevertheless, it would take a few days for it to get repaired since the repairmen said that many people had exhausted their units. Probably done the same thing he did. How stupid.

What awaited him was not a nicely air conditioned room. Instead, it was a humid apartment with all the windows opened. He vaguely heard Akuma, his girlfriend, say something that the landlord shut off all air conditionings to save money.

Oboro really didn’t want to head back downstairs. Especially since her apartment was probably on the seventh or ninth floor. He lost count. But he already used up all his energy getting up here because that cheapskate landlord didn’t spring for an elevator!

So here he was, laying facedown on the floor with an electric fan blowing cool air towards him. He was so hot that he didn’t take notice of Akuma’s clothes. She was wearing a white crop top and short denim shorts while sitting so alluringly on the windowsill with one foot propped up. It was a sight that would normally have made his hormones go haywire, but his heat-addled brain made him just lay down there and pray that the heat would slowly disappear.

Normally, he would’ve suggested they go to a mall or catch a movie, but he felt like he was going to burst into flames if he even moved an inch away from the breeze of the fan. So he was mostly whining about Mother Nature and her cheapskate landlord. Though his voice was slightly muffled due to his face being pressed against the floor. The floor was slightly cool. What can he say?
