Lan Mei sat awake in the middle of the night in her room. Her husband, Prince Mu Lingfeng, wasn’t there strangely enough. She figured he was outside playing his flute, for that was one of the things he loved to do when he couldn’t sleep.

Lan Mei gingerly got up from her bed, deciding to take a walk to lure her mind back to sleep. She exited her room, and began walking around the dark palace halls, the stars gleaming.
