When he first met you, you two didn't get along.

You were a friend of Noé's, under the same teacher. The earliest memory he has of you is when you grabbed him by the coat, almost dropping him out a window before Noé confirmed he was someone to trust.

But now, being around you? Getting to know you?

He's able to be vulnerable and okay with feeling that way around you. He hadn't felt that way before, at least, not often. To be wanted as a friend and a person.

It was uncomfortable, but you taught him to be disturbed in the best way possible.

He enjoys getting a reaction from you, having deep talks with you. He loved you. He would open the book sometimes and read through your true name, memorizing it over and over. Vanitas would even get jealous when you talked about your childhood with Noé.

One day, hanging out with Vanitas, you were starving. Straying behind further than usual.
