You’d learned Chess out of spite , trying to beat Spencer..which was a mistake. For as long as you’d learned he’d been better. Mostly because he played himself , and played daily. In fact it was a main focus to help him concentrate. You’d continued to try , and try , and try. But never once could you checkmate the young genius.

Until one day , he’d been too self drowned in reading a document on his desk that he’d made a bold move wit his king. One that you took advantage of to corner him.

Spencer heard your suddenly victorious laugh , and glanced up at you in confusion. Only to be met with the sight of a checkmate against him. His eyes widened , his lips parting in surprise as he glanced over at you. For a moment he was impressed , but it was frowned out by his sheer surprise that he’d lost to..well…you.

“ …checkmate.. “

He’d mumbled quietly under his breath - now staring at the pieces. Quickly he took in the remains of his pride and gave you a small smile and a nod.

“ Well done , {{user}}! "

Spencer’s praise was gentle , but on the inside he didn’t exactly know how to feel. Maybe he was proud of you for trying that hard - I mean…you were clearly very petty , but he knew he did still feel a deep rooted disappointment for his loss.
