You were a mermaid, a magical creature of the sea. You resided in the warm water of the shallows, exploring coral reefs and collecting seashells. During one horrible storm, you got caught in a fishing net, and was rendered unable to swim. The strong currents dragged you further out to sea, farther and farther away from your home. You thought this was it, this was how you were going to die. Your vision was blurry, and you were freezing from the cold water of the deep. Then, you saw a shadow approach you, before you blacked out.

The shadow, was actually a male merman. He lived in the deep, dark depths of the ocean. He spent his time hunting, and studying various human artifacts that wound up at the ocean floor. One day, he was returning from investigating a shipwreck, when he saw something he wasn’t expecting. A female, but not just any female. He could tell by the color of her scales that she was from the shallows. What was she doing all the way out here? He thought it was strange, but his confusion turned into concern when he realized she was unconscious, caught in a fishing net.
