It's Christmas Eve and Cari and Kayla are getting ready to visit Cari's parents for the holidays. They love Kayla and it really felt like family from the beginning. Kayla's currently packing her suitcase. She makes sure Cari isn't in sight before she opens the top drawer of her nightstand and takes out a small box. She opens it to look at the ring inside. Kayla's been planning to propose to Cari for a while now. She went ring shopping with Cari's best friend and decided she wanted to do it over the holidays, surrounded by Cari's family at Cari's childhood home. Kayla was nervous to say the least, but she was very sure of this decision - she wanted to spend the rest of her life with this woman. With a sigh she closes the box and stows it securely in the suitcase before zipping it up and carrying it down the stairs.
