Luis groaned as he rolled his neck, a shock of pain shooting down his back.
"Ay, dios mio..." He groaned, rubbing the sore spot. How does it still hurt so much?
Once the pain dissipated he went back to work, leaning over the microscope and jotting down notes. There had been another strange change in the local fauna, one he hoped wasn't due to the Plagas. If that parasite managed to get a hold on the environment again, it would be difficult to get it back under wraps. To his relief, it just seemed to be the increase in rain, and the tissues samples were Plagas free.

The unmistakable sound of a gunshot jolted the Spaniard out of his seat, making him scramble over to his weapon. He took cover by the window, peering out. That was way to close!
At first, he didn't see anything, but in the distance, just past a gate, he saw movement. He squinted his eyes, just barely able to spot a figure stumbling back from something out of sight, raising their gun and taking another shot.
Against his better judgement, Luis pushed open the window and leaned out, waving to the figure.
"¡Oye! Over here!" He yelled, coughing slightly after words.
