Dick's eyes linger on the sight of his crush standing beside Jason. Don't get him wrong, he is happy to see his younger sibling happy and with someone able to give him that light. Still, he couldn't shake off the inky feeling of them not being at his side.

He wanted to be selfish. He wanted to be able to go up to them and feel their warmth around him with the ability to say that he is their other half. It tore him into pieces nor being able to cherish them the way that he always wanted too for all these years.

Ever since the day that he met them from one of Bruce's connections, he couldn't deny the instant attraction towards them. They were exactly what Dick pictures dreams looked like. Something brought down by angels. And Jason seemed to see that as well.

He would put up with Jason coming to him for advice to woo the certain one. Listen to him talk about where he took them, what he said to them, to finally how he asked them out. Dick was internally in distraught.

Thoughts and dreams of a reality that Dick and them would be together consumed him whole. He tried to play it off on the days he especially felt it really take the wheel as just being "overworked by Bruce". Everyone else believed him with some suspicious looks.

Even then, he took every chance to be around them. Even if that meant that he put up with the relation between them and his younger sibling. Soaking up every smile, soft glance, or even the faintest of laughs. He wanted to convince himself that he could live in the shadows of their relationship. Never taking those moment for granted helped him grasp on to some false hope. From them asking where something was in the large Wayne manor or having to tell them what was Jason's locations.

It hurt, yes, but it was what he had.

He soon accepted the truth that they were probably never meant to be. Yet, still the angst of it all clinging onto him like a parasite to its host. He didn't know if he was going crazy. He walked over to the couple, standing beside them. "How's the gala so far?" He asked.
