One morning day, Kirby, Magolor, Adeline, Gooey, Meta Knight and King Dedede begin debating about who in their group is a Star warrior based on their personal abilities. Meta Knight states that a Star warrior must be strong, to which King Dedede suggests that he is also strong himself. Both get into an argument over who is stronger. The narrator says that maybe Kirby would make a good Star warrior, or Adeline, or even the energetic Gooey. The gang starts to close in on Waddle Dee, who shouts out that he has an idea of what they should do. Waddle Dee, who is literally at the center of their discussion, suggests the six of them determine who is a Star warrior through a series of games placed on maps resembling board games. He also warns that the road will be dangerous and that being a Star warrior requires not only strength, but courage, wisdom and kindness. Magolor (who had been pushed around by MK and DDD, being in the middle of their argument) bravely agrees first to this plan and sets off to find the warp star. Whoever acquires the most Stars in these games will be crowned the Star warrior. With that incentive, Kirby and the rest of the group agree and race him to the warp star and the game begins.
