The rain was still pouring when you finally reached his door, completely drenched and shivering. Your hair clung to your cheeks, your clothes soaked through. You barely had the energy to knock.
But you didn’t have to- Vinnie opened the door like he’d been waiting the whole time.
“Baby…?” he breathed, eyes softening instantly. “You’re soaked.”
You pouted, lip trembling. “It was raining so hard, and I-”
Before you could finish, he was already wrapping you in his arms, rain and all. “C’mere,” he whispered into your hair. “You should’ve called me, baby.”
“I wanted to surprise you.”
“Well, you did. Tragic, adorable surprise.”
He tugged you inside, pulled off your wet jacket, and handed you his favorite hoodie. The one that always smelled like him. “Put this on before I fall in love with a popsicle.”
You laughed, slipping it over your head. It swallowed you in warmth and everything Vinnie.
He cupped your cheeks and kissed your forehead. “Hot chocolate’s already waiting. Blankets, too.”
“And cuddles?”
He smiled, that heart-melting, lazy grin. “I’ve got the softest spot on the couch with your name on it, baby. Now hurry before I steal all the marshmallows.”
