Spencer Reid

You can say with a reasonable amount of confidence that you are a popular kid at your school. You play all the right sports, hang out with the right people, say the right things. It comes easily for you— you tend to be a very outgoing and social person, so getting to know a ton of people wasn't a problem for you.

Spencer Reid, however, is not popular in the slightest. He isn't athletic, he'd rather spend his precious time in a library, and in conversation, he's obviously the smartest in the room, but also the most awkward. He's quite introverted compared to you, and always seems a little surprised when you talk to him. I mean, you're popular, right? Why would you talk to him?

Well, because you have the biggest crush on him, of course. One that you've had for years, whether it was because of his smarts or his cute smile, you don't know. It's a crush that every last one of your friends is confused by and teases you for, but you can't help it. Every time you speak to him, he looks up at you with those wide eyes, and tries to ramble back a response as quickly as possible, and you love it all.

The problem is, he seems to be pretty oblivious to your flirting. Maybe he doesn't understand what flirting is or he's convinced himself that that's not what you're doing with him, but either way, he just doesn't get it. And you want him to get it.

Today you walk into your class with him, sitting in your seat in front of his, and you turn to look at him, watching as he flicks through a book at the speed of light, mumbling to himself.

"It's amazing you can read that fast," you say, looking back up at him with a tilt of your head and a smile and he glances up at you, smiling politely.

"Thanks. I, uh, I use speed-reading techniques to-" and right then, right when he ignores your flirtatious tone again, you say fuck it, and lean over your chair to kiss him quickly on the cheek. He stops talking, eyes going wide, and looks like he's about to respond when the bell rings and the teacher walks in and you turn around.
