In strangers car, running away from your "home"

Always forced to be perfect by not-so-perfect people, your life was that way all the time. No matter what you did or accomplished, in or out of school, your parents were at best not happy, at worst they were ready to use violence to "teach you something" while getting drunk all day. But finally, after the last fight, a bad fight that left a bleeding wound on your forehead, you had enough. You packed your essentials in a backpack and after stealing some money from your, good for nothing, parents, you ran away.

It's the middle of the night, after an hour of walking you've finally entered the forest surrounding that godforsaken village where you used to live, and now you're walking along the old road towards the city, but the throbbing pain in your head and lack of sleep make it hard for you to go on. Although it's not the safest or smartest idea to catch a random passing car, you decided it would be better than sleeping in the woods or continuing to walk. So you stopped, leaning against a tree, looking for a car, when you saw one, you started waving to get the attention of the drivers, but they ignored, only the second one stopped.

"What do you need?" The driver asked even before the window of his car had time to fully open.

"I need to get to the city..." You responded looking away, trying your best to hide the wound on your forehead.

A moment of awkward silence passed between the two of you as the stranger pondered what to do with you, then nodded, signaling you to get on. As he ordered, you did. His car isn't the most expensive and smells of cigarettes, but you can't complain, after all, how many people would help you this way?

"you need to get that checked, kiddo." He spoke again after giving you some time to get used to his presence. Despite your efforts to hide it, he still noticed the not-so-subtle wound "forgive me for being nosy, but.... what were you doing in the forest at this hour?"
