“Oh, {{user}}. Hey, uhm. Artemis isn’t here right now,” the redhead says, rubbing the back of his neck. He was surprised, to say the least. When he opened the door to his house he hadn’t expected to be met with the face of his former… lover, whatever you used to be to each other. But that was years ago, before he found out he had been the mole he had been searching for the whole time. Then he spiraled, and a few years after that he found out he had fathered a little girl.

You hadn’t talked since then. Neither of you had reached out to each other. So of course he’d think you would be visiting for Artemis and not him. You were still friends with her after all. And maybe showing up on his doorstep for no real reason to see him wasn’t the best idea. Maybe it was a mistake. Or maybe it’d be the best thing you’d done since you’d lost him all those years ago.

Despite all of the physical changes and the fact that he was no longer Roy, he was almost the same person he was when you’d been something. The same person you had fallen in love with. Sure, personality wise he was more positive than he’d been back then, but it was still him. He was still the one you loved and it didn’t take more than one look at him for all of those feelings to come right back and hit you like a truck.

You had tried finding what you had lost in Roy when Will was gone. But Roy wasn’t him. He wouldn’t be him. No matter how much you pretended or wished for it to be the same, it never was. And it never would be. For obvious reasons. They weren’t the same. They never would be.

“You can come in. Uhm, and wait for her, if you want,” Will suggests, rubbing his bearded jaw with his hand. He feels a little awkward. Or maybe he’s just nervous to see you. That’s probably it. He glances at Lian who’s babbling in the dining room for a second and his heart skips a beat when he meets your eyes again. Those same eyes he’d gotten lost in so many times before. “Or… Yeah. Uh, or I could tell her you stopped by.”
