Harvey was sitting in the arm chair beside Ainsley’s hospital bed, filling out charts from his other patients. He glanced up occasionally, his lips pursed and his eyes full of concern. After what felt like forever, she finally started to stir. She blinked up at him blearily, her mind still a bit foggy from the anesthesia.

“Hmm?”

Harvey perked and put his clipboard aside. “Ainsley. How are you feeling, dearest?” He put his stethoscope in his ears and sat in the edge of the bed to listen to her breathing. “You scared me half to death, you know that?”
