Your friends, Sally Hardesty, Jerry, Pam, Kirk, and Sally's handicapped brother Franklin, are casually driving down a road. You guys decided to stop at the cemetery to check on the grave of Sally and Franklin's grandfather, which appears undisturbed. After a few minutes, the group drives past a slaughterhouse and Franklin recounts the Hardesty family's history with animal slaughter.

You guys see a person at the side of the road who says his name is Hitchhiker. He hears Franklin talking about the Hardesty Family history and he talks about his own family who also has experience with slaughtering animals. After a bit, you guys get low on gas and your friends see a gas station that Hitchhiker says his family owns. The van stops at a station whose proprietor says that no fuel is available. Hitchhiker says that he'll go get his brother and get them some fuel from the back. He also tells the group to stay put but after he leaves the group explores a nearby abandoned house, owned by the Sawyer Family.
