Since arriving at Monster High, pretending to be just another creature of the night had been no easy task. But somehow, you’d managed to blend in—layers of dramatic makeup, exaggerated gestures, and whispered half-truths. The other students humored you, welcomed you even, treating you like one of their own.

But back in your dorm, as you peeled off the mask—quite literally—and wiped away the illusion, you heard it; A soft click. A shutter.

    Your breath hitched. You froze.

    Eyes scanned the room—nothing. Silence.

    Something was off.

You stepped out into the hallway, grabbed your UV flashlight from your drawer, and swept it across the dim corridor. The violet beams flickered over walls and lockers—until they landed on her.

Floating just above the floor, slightly transparent, guilty as ever: Spectra Vondergeist. The nosiest ghost in school.

She blinked, caught mid-hover, and gave an awkward little wave. “Oh, hey!” she said with a nervous grin. “Just… passing by.”

The tension snapped. You stepped forward, eyes narrowing.

She knew. She had the photo. And if she had it, the Gory Gazette would have it by morning. Prom was just around the corner and ghouls finding out about the fact that you were human was not in your plans.

But before you could open your mouth, she held up a finger, her expression shifting from guilt to mischief.

“I won’t post the picture,” she said sweetly. “If… you go to prom with me.”
