matt sat next to you at the kitchen table, softly stroking your back as you stared down at the sliced apples and peanut butter matt had cut up for you. you closed your eyes, taking a deep breath, praying that somehow they would miraculously disappear when your eyes re opened. much to your dismay, the snack was still on the paper plate in front of you.
“here,” matt said softly, taking the biggest slice, dragging it through the peanut butter, “i’ll eat it with you.”
you looked over at matt as he offered you a kind and reassuring smile. “it’s okay,” he told you softly.
you sighed, shakily picking up an apple slice, dipping in the peanut butter, mentally cursing yourself for how much you’d accidentally put on. all that went through your head was how the apple slice would affect your body. “matt,” you said quietly, looking over to him, “i can’t.”
he scooted closer, continuing to rub your back. “you can,” he whispered, leaning close to you, “i’m right here with you, i need you to take care of my girl for me, yeah?”
