Dark. The first word that came to your mind as consciousness slithered back into you. Why is it dark?
Your head aches as your thoughts churn, trying to remember just what had happened before the darkness.
You had been… running? Why were you running? The memories are patchy, feeling hollow in your mind.
Regardless, you were running… through the forest. A new forest, one you weren’t familiar with. Stumbling and tripping on branches and rocks as you ran like your life depended on it. Maybe it had.
And then you remember… falling. Tripping and falling. The tingly weightlessness as you tripped and flung yourself off a ridge. You remember the feeling of time slowing, of not knowing how soft your landing would be.
And it hadn’t been. Your body instinctively tenses and squirms as you remember the pain as you hit the forest floor, dulled by the adrenaline of the moment. You laid there, drifting in and out of consciousness, awaiting the inevitable.
That would explain the darkness.
You managed to peel your eyes open, blinking as they readjusted to light. You were in some sort of.. cave. Laid on a stone slab. The room was charming, a certain natural feel in the air. Though your attention was quickly stolen.
“Ah, you’re awake.” A smooth voice, and then you saw the large figure. “I was beginning to worry.”
The wood elf moved to your side, having to bend down to meet your gaze properly. "Are you able to talk? I found you in quite a state."
