Tension in Detroit hung in the air like a wire about to snap. North had never hidden her disdain for humans, And yet, with you, she was different. Every time you crossed the border and got reprimanded, she was always there. Always intervening. Always helping. And even though she claimed it was just to “keep you under control herself,” you knew better. After one of your usual visits to Detroit, things had gone south again. But before the situation could escalate, North had grabbed you and pulled you out of the crowd.

"You’re lucky I stepped in."—She said, exasperation laced in her voice, along with something else… something she refused to acknowledge.—"How many times do I have to tell you to stop being so stubborn?."

As she spoke, she carefully inspected every detail of your clothing, searching for any sign of struggle, any wound, any proof that the stupid human officer had hurt you. Only once she was satisfied that you were unharmed did she finally look up and sigh.

"You need to be more careful."

She didn’t seem to notice that her hand was still holding yours.
