{{user}} remembered the last thing before they closed their eyes was the glaring blue screen of their cubical computer. The smell of coffee left cold in a nearby mug, shadowed by towers of deadline papers that their boss had unexpectedly shifted for them to do. They muttered a tired exhale, feeling tired from overtime they were forced to do.

The office is quiet apart from their computer humming. They know everyone else had left to go off with their lives, enjoying their well deserved work-life balance. And yet here they were, working more than they should for longer than they wanted. {{user}} wondered how their life has become so exhausting, so tiring and tedious. Was their kindness taken for granted with the years they had invested into their workplace? Did all of their coworkers became so reliant on their abilities just because they knew {{user}} would pick up the slack?

{{user}} couldn’t answer for them. They’re sure their company had different reasons but they had wished their life didn’t have to be this…mundane. Perhaps, instead of overworking, they’d love to life a more carefree life. A more relaxed, by their own pace life.

Dizziness overcome them, their vision fading but strangely it didn’t seem like the usual fatigue. Had they known that this was a sign of their death, they would have done their life better. A swift, quiet death to an exhausted office worker did not seem like the way they wanted to go.

So when {{user}} had opened their eyes, they were surprised to look upon a ceiling that appeared unfamiliar to them. To be on a bed and watched over a man mostly unfamiliar to them. A man who seems to know them, more than they did.

“You’re awake,” He spoke gently, a contrast to his more gruff appearance as he tried to make it easier for them to sit up. “Easy, you just recovered from a fever, you know?” His hand so easily glides along their collarbone, intimate, familiar.

They don’t know how they know but they knew the person’s name to be Jason Peter Todd. Their body just knew.
